Wiener Wednesday: Camping with Creative Works

Wednesday, July 28 at 6 PM

UPDATE!

We’re calling 7/21 our “dress rehearsal” because after getting rained out we’re moving Wiener Wednesday to

July 28 from 6 – 8 PM at Buchanan Park Pavilion

We’re making adjustments so it will now be a

RAIN OR SHINE event.
Thank you to all those brave souls who still trekked out in the rain to see us huddled under the pavilion. It was great to see some old friends and we can’t wait to see the rest of you next week.

We need your input!

Your experiences and ideas are what drive us forward and we want to hear from you before we charge ahead into the great unknown of post-pandemic theatre. Let us know how we’re doing. Let us know how YOU’RE doing by answering a couple questions for us in this brief community survey.

ORIGIANL POST:

Attention Campers: Creative Works of Lancaster announces an evening of hot dogs, s’mores, and summer camp activities on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the Buchanan Park Pavilion, near the tennis courts and playground off of Race Avenue. The event will run from 6:00-8:00 p.m., with programmed activities between 6:30-7:30 p.m. In case of rain, the event will be held on July 28, 2021 at the same time.

Like the 17-year cicadas, Creative Works is re-emerging, and we’re both excited and nervous about the prospect of gathering in person. Will we even remember how to make polite conversation? Will EE (our mascot, Exquisite Explorer) remember to wear clothes? Do we even like hot dogs?

In all seriousness, so many have suffered losses, large and small, over the last year, and as artists, we’re still reeling from the journey we’ve taken during the pandemic, individually and collectively. While we are eager to take incremental steps toward some semblance of normalcy, we also remain acutely aware of the toll the last 15 months have taken, and we’d like to hit pause and take a moment to reflect. This is an invitation to sit with grief and uncertainty among Creative Works friends and collaborators, to process in some small way what we’ve all been holding since March 2020, and to envision together the possibilities the future holds.

A quick Google search told us that someone has declared July 21st National Hot Dog Day, which is good enough for us, especially because it’s also a Wiener Wednesday. (Don’t worry, we’ll have veggie food options too!) And, summer camp has traditionally been a way for people to disconnect from technology and reconnect with one another and the outdoors. So, now that you’ve had a glimpse into our very sophisticated brainstorming process, step away from your computer, come hang out with EE and friends, and reflect on what’s next after we thoroughly roast this past year over the campfire! We can’t wait to see you. Yes, you.

This is a free event, and Creative Works always utilizes a Pay What You Decide (PWYD) ticketing model with no fixed ticket prices. We will never turn away a potential audience member due to financial limitations, and you never need to risk feeling like your experience did not match what you paid. Donations are happily accepted on our website to help offset our expenses.

Creative Works of Lancaster receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Thanks to the PCA and to our regional PA Partner, Berks Arts.
