This is the thirteenth year The 24 Hour Plays have been produced in Lancaster!
Six writers, six directors, twenty-five actors and a production team will write, rehearse and perform six ten-minute plays in a 24 hour period. There will only be one performance of the plays.
The six plays will have undergone a process that starts Friday evening, June 7th. In this 24 hour period, six writers will choose their actors from a pool of talent, then write through the night and hand their work to the directors early Saturday morning, June 8th. After negotiating for their choice of play, directors will rehearse with their actors and a crew of stage technicians to prepare for a 7PM curtain and debut performances of these six original works.
Since its inception in New York City in 1995, The 24 Hour Plays (www.24hourplays.com) have been performed for audiences throughout the United States and the world – attracting both professional and amateur theater artists. Talent involved in past productions of The 24 Hour Plays includes Jennifer Aniston, Rosie Perez, Kevin Spacey, Vince Vaughn and Elijah Wood. The Lancaster production will feature veteran members of the Central Pennsylvania theater scene working along-side artists that may be new to the audience.
The 24 Hour Plays® is presented under a license and with the participation of The 24 Hour Plays®.
