Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of September 11th, 2001
Creative Works of Lancaster presents a staged reading of Lancastrian Artie Van Why’s That Day In September: A Personal Remembrance of 9/11, a one-man play featuring actor Brian Martin, on Sunday, September 13th at 7 p.m. at Zoetropolis Cinema Stillhouse, 112 N. Water Street, Lancaster PA.
The play is adapted from Van Why’s personal remembrance of the tragic events in New York City on September 11th, 2001. From the moment he hears a loud boom in his office across from the World Trade Center and then steps into the street, his memoir vividly transports the audience
back to the day that changed our country and all of our lives.
That Day In September premiered in Los Angeles in October of 2002 to critical acclaim, and opened Off-Broadway in New York City in the summer of 2003. The L.A. Times stated, “Van Why’s recollections of the attacks and their aftermath are harrowing, marked by an eyewitness
perspective that has the sober authenticity of diary entries…Countless heroes emerged from the chaos of Sept. 11, and by selflessly sharing his story, Van Why must be counted among their number.” The Washingon Post said, “Van Why claims neither hero nor victim status. He’s just a
man who was shaken to his core and emerged a new, stronger person.”
Creative Works originally presented this piece in 2011, also performed by Brian Martin, and we’re so glad to have the opportunity to bring it back this year.
