A New Play by Local Playwright Caleb Corkery!
The Lancaster Dramatists’ Platform presents a reading of Rebuilding Ra, a new play by local playwright Caleb Corkery, on Saturday afternoon, May 31st, at 2:00 p.m. in the Programming Space on the second floor of the Lancaster Public Library in Ewell Plaza, 151 N. Queen Street in Lancaster. The event is hosted in partnership with Creative Works of Lancaster and Lancaster Public Library.
Principal Ramos runs his city high school like a military officer: in total control obeying State procedures. Popular social studies teacher, Mr. Price, strays liberally from the curriculum, prioritizing social resistance and critical thinking. Tensions between the two male egos polarize the school and community further when Price encourages his students to build an unauthorized statue to the Egyptian god Ra. But who will the students follow once the inspiring statue collapses?
Corkery’s play will be presented readers theater style with local actors reading from the script.
Caleb Corkery loves living in Lancaster with so many creative people here. He has had many works read and produced through Creative Works of Lancaster. His last play, Street Poet, won second place in the New Works of Merit Contest in NYC. It was also a finalist at the Waterworks Festival Contest last year and a finalist for new play development at American Stage in St. Petersburg, Florida. He is working with Creative Works to bring a fringe festival to Lancaster in May, 2026.
